Notes: Fourdinier, 1788-1845, entered the seminary in Arras in 1807, or before. He went on to have a distinguished career, ending as Supérieur de la Congrégation et du Séminaire du Saint-Esprit, Protonotiare apostolique.The text is entirely in Latin, except for an appendix (not so called) in French: Quelques reflexions sur l'ame des Bêtes, with examples ancient to modern, via Aquinas; the moderns include Descartes, Leibniz, and Locke.
