Description: with numerous diagrams in the text, and a folding plate with 'Moveable Cuts' (flaps, really: 13 figures), the plate slightly dust-stained and with minor fraying at fore-edge, ownership inscription erased from top of title, pp. viii, 493, [3, Contents], 8vo, contemporary calf, double gilt fillets on sides, double gilt rules bordering raised bands on spine, lacking lettering piece, upper joint cracked (cords firm), spine a bit worn, defective at head and tail, large purple stamp of Ampleforth Abbey on fly-leaf

Ward published The Young Mathematician's Guide in 1707, and there were several editions, both in London and Dublin, up till 1771. Scarce: 5 copies only in ESTC, 2 in the UK, 3 in the US.
