Notes: A rare Civil War song sheet, issued some time between the opening of Ford's Theater in Washington in 1863 and its closure in 1865 following Lincoln's assassination. The subject is Maggie Mitchell, one of the most celebrated American actresses of the 19th century. The author's name is confusingly given as R.W. Emerson: our author was the more famous Emerson's second cousin. Having met Lincoln, R.W.
