Notes: A very scarce contribution to the' university novel' genre from a British eccentric who for a long time revelled in the status of being the owner of 'Britain's smallest stately home' (Ebberston Hall, near Scarborough) and who was identified by Jeremy Paxman, whilst researching his book on the English, as the epitome of the national character.
