Description: manuscript material written in various colour inks and pencil, heavy drafting to typed sheets, some with light soiling or staining, in total circa 145 sheets with around half of these photocopied (but some of these with holograph material), some exclusively manuscript material and including 2 letters to Barker (one from Anthony Astbury of the Greville Press, the other from a schoolmaster interested in having him come in), some with holograph material (often verse, sometimes other literary work) on the verso, 2pp. typed review of Edwin Muir's 'Selected Letters' (Hogarth Press, 1974), with holograph corrections in red ink, signed by Barker in blue ink at foot, various sizes and formats, two sections clipped and obviously intended to form (slightly sprawling) groups, the rest scattered, good condition overall

Notes: The majority of the material here would appear to be unpublished - at least in its present form, providing many variant lines and alternate versions of known pieces also, and predominantly dates from the latter part of the poet's career. The presence of an envelope addressed to the poet at Buntry Farmhouse in Itteringham, postmarked 1987, and an envelope marked 'Barker' but addressed to the poet Cliff Forshaw that has a 19 and 1/2 penny stamp affixed (so from the early 1980s at the latest), offer further evidence for dating.
