Notes: The first edition of the Roman history compiled by Julius Pomponius Laetus (1425-1497) - sometimes called Guilio Pomponio Leto, although this is just an Italianisation of his adopted humanist name, with his original birth name unknown - and published posthumously with a life of the author by Marcantonio Sabellico. This short compendium was immediately reprinted several times and later incorporated into an often republished collection of historical sources assembled by Erasmus.
