Publisher's Synopsis
Kathryne Foust was born in Sharpsville, Indiana, and grew up on a small farm. After graduating from Sharpsville High School in 1944, she attended business college. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a secretary when she worked in an office at Delco Electronics. While raising her son and blind twin daughters, she worked in a nursery school as a teacher's aide, in a school cafeteria, and as secretary for her husband Don's business. Now retired, Kathryne enjoys traveling and is active in the lives of her family. This is a true story about raising twin daughters who grew up in a world of darkness, at a time when few opportunities existed for handicapped children. It is a journey full of pain, joy, anger, laughter, confusion, and tears - traveling together towards the light of independence and faith. As I sit in our backyard this beautiful morning, the sounds of the wind and the birds flood my mind with memories of two little girls. In years past, they would be here with me, sitting for hours listening to the same sounds. They would feel the warmth of the sun and hear the wind and the birds more keenly than I, yet they never saw the sun nor the blue of a robin's egg.
