An American billionaire's daughter is found murdered on a remote beach in the Scottish West Highlands. Her clothes are dry—she did not wash in with the tide. And there are no footprints in the sand around her body. It's as if she fell from the sky. The only clue is a corps creadha—a Celtic voodoo-doll, a thing of the Old Ways. Constable Angus 'Dubh' McNeil has been cursed since childhood with the rare phenomenon of second sight. He is condemned to experience terrifying visions of death but unable to save anyone. And so it is with the girl on the beach. But as one murder becomes many, Detective McNeil soon wonders whether this is more than the hand of man at work in this murder.
