Excerpt from The Twenty-Second Annual Report of the Receipts and Expenditures of the Town of Dorchester: With Reports of the Selectmen, Auditors, and Chief Engineer of the Fire Department, for the Year Ending January 31st, 1860
The community have been somewhat startled by the spread of the small pox and varioloid, in the neighboring Cities and vicinity, and' as several cases have occurred in this town, we have requested the Physicians to vaccinate all the children attending the public schools, who had not been recently vaccinated, with the kine pox.
