Publisher's Synopsis
This text offers a detailed treatment of the basic principles underpinning the theory of iteration of rational functions of a complex variable. The theory ranges from the original memoirs of Fatou and Julia to recent major results and methods from Sullivan and Shishikura, with some of these theories appearing in print for the first time. Some of the more recent theories have been informed by work done on the spectacular computer graphics of Julia sets, fractals and the Mandelbrot set. The text focuses on the specialized area of complex analytic dynamics.
