Publisher's Synopsis
The 72 readings in The Human Experience are drawn from an eclectic, interdisciplinary range of popular and scholarly choices to survey the core concepts that make up sociology's fundamental insights. The collection includes chapters on topics that are rarely found in standard introductory readers: the social construction of reality; the thoughts of classic social theorists; social organization of the private realm of thoughts and feelings; and changing social relationships. To make them more accessible to readers, many of the readings are notably short. Every reading is accompanied by annotations or "signposts" in the margins, written by the text author, that explain, comment, or expand upon key points. Can be used independently, or is an ideal companion volume for Curra¿s The Human Experience: Insights from Sociology (Allyn & Bacon, 2003.)
