Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Heresies of the Plymouth Brethren

It has been supposed that Plymouthism should be spared on account of some good people who have en tered its fold. It is unfortunately true that simple minded Christians have, in many instances, given in their adhesion to the sect. They have been deceived by the plausible sanctimoniousness of the Plymouth leaders. In place of making this a reason, however, for sparing the hypocrisy of the system, it is only a greater argument for its radical exposure, as a proper warning to the unsuspicious and unwary. Moreover, Plymouthism is not now what it was in the beginning. At its commencement, its aim appeared to be good, and many excellent men were attracted towards it; but it has now run into the Wildest extremes imagin able; has become as entirely J esuitical as the system of Loyola itself and by the denial of the moral law as the rule of life, has led, in many instances, to the most disastrous consequences.
