Publisher's Synopsis
"Americans tend to place science on a pedestal as perhaps the only objective force in society..." wrote journalist Elinor Burkett. Most people are overwhelmed by often confusing messages from someone considered a medical authority, yet all too often, those "authorities" have botched their own homework. As a result, we become victims of dangerous and deceptive propaganda. For years, many communications regarding HIV and AIDS have not been founded upon a genuine scientific basis, yet are accepted as valid among many people.
This report focuses on the scientific debate or lack thereof surrounding AIDS. Much of what we get from the media is not based on consistent principles and reproducible data. AIDS propaganda is designed to play upon fears and emotions within the intended audience. Throughout our lives, we are instructed to defer to the authority of doctors, government officials, the news media, and powerful corporations. Yet, many of their public pronouncements about AIDS crumble when the facts are presented to those who can distinguish fiction from reality. The whole notions of "Safe Sex" and discussions centered around "the AIDS virus" are not founded on the exact sciences of epidemiology and microbiology, but are built upon well-proven principles of behavioral modification. Some of the world's most prominent scientists have long been critical of the AIDS hoax. Such skepticism has been well-founded. Critical questions must be asked and satisfactory answers given!
