Publisher's Synopsis
When the old man shuffled along the city streets mumbling and shouting, the people that he passed moved quickly past him. Some of them felt sorry for him, others wondered why the city wouldn't do anything about the homeless situation and others simply ignored him. The old man's tortured mind held a terrible secret. Long ago, there were a few others who shared that secret with him. But they had long since ceased walking this earth. Now only he knew. The nightmares that often invaded his sleep were horrific. They caused him to writhe and scream into the darkness where no one heard him. He would awaken sweating and trembling. Sometimes, he would think of his past trying to understand how he had become entangled in that web that had become a long, terrible road to hell for him. The early years of his life had held so much promise. But complacency had taken hold of him and he had allowed himself to drift slowly into an alien realm that he had thought could never take control of him. But it was slowly destroying him.
