Publisher's Synopsis

Originally published in 1998, this is a reprint of a title that has been unavailable for many years. This four-mile branch opened in 1841 and linked Cirencester with the Swindon to Cheltenham line at Kemple. It closed to passengers in 1964, all services ending in 1965 as a Beeching cut. The book starts with the line's origins and then deals with the ensuing history. Other chapters include a description of the line and signalling. Appendices include arrangements for the Royal Train of 1946, traffic statistics for Cirencester Town, and arrangements for working the branch after it had been closed to passengers.
