Publisher's Synopsis
In Parts I and II the author reviews philosophical and pedagogical concepts of art and teaching and discusses at length art teaching in the junior and senior high school, including such matters as stage development, testing, grading, discipline, curriculum planning, budgeting, and equipment. Part III, comprising more than half the book, is concerned with the many individual art activities that can be taught in high school, supplying specific information on media and techniques in each field. There are extensive discussions of the contribution of each subject to the education of adolescents, and of the role of art history and art appreciation in fusing studio experiences with student responses to great art.
