This description of this very important book to the American Revolution, especially to the troops at Valley Forge, is best said by these famous words of Thomas Paine: "These are the times that try mens's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the services of their country, but he that stands now, desrves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered, yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the truimph. What we attain to cheap, we esteem to lightly; it is this dearness only that gives everything it's value".
