ABOUT THE AUTHORKen Derow once worked for the forces of "evil." He enjoyed an almost 40-year career in consumer marketing research, helping large, multinational corporations to expand their wallets while expanding your waistline. He helped to stoke our cravings for Pepperidge Farms Goldfish, Taskykate Krimpets, or any number of other mass-produced ultra-processed junk foods. Those empty calories may have found their way into your house because of his extensive experience in consumer behavior, decision-making and psychology. However, his passion for promoting unhealthful products waned as his own waistline expanded and he partook in his own journey to become more healthful and lose weight. Like many, he struggled to find the right path to balance his craving for junk foods against his conscious desire to consume more healthful choices. He extensively researched brain science, psychology, eating behavior and the basis for the cravings that drive snacking, overeating and bingeing.
