Publisher's Synopsis

Chadwick's Symphony No.3 was composed in 1893-94 and received its world premiere on October 19, 1894 in Boston with the composer conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The symphony was awarded the first prize in the competition held by the National Conservatory in New York in 1896. The judge was the visiting Antonin Dvorak. The 35-minute romantic work received high praises and a number of important performances in the composer's lifetime but fell out of fashion in the 1930s. Only in recent years has it experienced a revival of interest. This is a new, digitally enhanced reissue of the score first published in 1896 by Arthur P. Schmidt.
