Publisher's Synopsis
In the self-storage business, when a storage unit's rental payments become six months or more delinquent, companies can legally sell the contents of the unit at public auction; as seen on the TV reality show, Storage Wars. Emmitt Thornton, a self-storage manager, is preparing for such an auction and finds one of his delinquent units contains only a few pieces of dust-covered junk. However, one of the items is a damaged drafting table and he sees it as a perfect fit for his night-class homework if he can buy it cheap and make the necessary repairs. Standing in his way of bidding is the company's rule that an employee cannot be a buyer at his own auction. It is a good rule for the integrity of the auction, but since all the items in the unit are junk, he sees no problem circumventing the rule and he ask a friend to come to the auction and secretly bid for him. This decision thrusts him into a high-stakes treasure hunt where the winning prize comes with murder and constant danger for him and the people around him.
