Publisher's Synopsis

This "Scientific Programmer's Toolkit" will be useful to anyone writing programs related to any quantitative science or technology. It provides not only a collection of mathematical and graphical routines together with utility and user-interface routines, but also a framework for program writing. The Toolkit gives an approach to the overall design of a program or suite of programs and also many of the software components needed. The programs and routines fall into three categories - screen text and graphics, mathematical routines, and utilities and user-interface routines.;To make the Toolkit simple to use, three "levels" of software are provided. The highest, level 3, consists of complete, ready-to-run, stand-alone programs which can be used without a compiler and therefore require no programming effort by the user. The level 2 routines are designed to be easily incorporated into the user's own programs to perform specific tasks, such as function plotting, to standard parameters. To give the user control over each of the parameters involved, level 1 software breaks down each task into a number of component tasks which can be customized by the user. "The Scientific Programmer's Toolkit" has been written for use with Turbo PASCAL, the standard PASCAL system for IBM-PC and compatible machines. The use of this Toolkit with other PASCAL systems is dealt with in the appendices.
