Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Reports and Resolutions of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, Vol. 2: Regular Session Commencing January 12, 1909
Last year attention was called to the importance of instructing teachers and school children in the fundamental principles of hygiene and sanitary science; and in order to provide for the printing and distribution of lea?ets containing brief accounts of such infectious diseases as tuberculosis, typhoid fever, diphtheria, scarlet fever, etc., we requested that the small sum of two hundred and fifty dollars be appropriated. This request we earnestly repeat. Ignorance is the wind which fans into ?ame the unrecognized spark of disease, and it is only by the spread of knowledge that we can hope to stay its ravages.
