Publisher's Synopsis
In her drawings and text-based works, Petra Sterry explores psychological sensitivities, spontaneous impressions, and rationalised feelings. In the Elastic Punch series of works, she examines fundamental human states such as discomfort, fear, lethargy, or joy using language. Starting from Franz Xaver Messerschmidt's 'character heads,' Sterry shows the fragility of existence that everyone has to overcome between assertion and loss of self. The participatory project The Elastic I focuses in addition on the experience of aging individuals. Text in English and German.
