Den niende bog i Aṅguttara Nikaya, Samlingen af Buddhas nummererede diskurser, samler 432 suttas eller diskurser, hvis emne er centreret omkring grupper af ni emner. Denne gang optræder de ni genstande dog ikke så eksplicit som i de tidligere bind.
Denne bog drejer sig grundlæggende om de ni sfærer eller dimensioner: de fire jhanas, de fire ayatanas og ophørstilstanden, gennem en mangfoldighed af variationer af varierende kompleksitet, som når sit højdepunkt i AN 9.41. Med husholder Tapussa, en tæt, kompleks og særligt kompliceret diskurs at rekonstruere, der i dybden beskriver den direkte mystiske vej til fuld oplysning.
