Publisher's Synopsis
Cat took one look at the stoic biker whose default expression was a scowl and wanted to see him smile or better still, make him laugh. All she got for her efforts was a lip twitch and date but it was a start. After Rye reveals his dark history and dangerous family tree she isn't sure if the hint of laughter she occasionally glimpses in his eyes are worth taking a risk on him. His stark honesty in his effort to get her to walk away, convinced her that he's better man than he suspects. Okay, the fact he kisses like he knows the meaning of original sin might have tipped the scale in his favor too. Cat isn't sure she can get Rye to forgive himself his old sins or get her family to move past them. She is willing to find out if light of humor in his eyes can help him shove back the looming shadows of violent past. Rye had never seen a woman laughing with the uninhibited joy of a child before. He could not take his eyes off her. He watched her in the mirror above the bar and knew with certainty she wasn't for him. Women with laughter in their souls did not belong with men raised by Jackals. The Jackals MC was aptly named, like their name sake's they are vicious predators that run in a pack and prey on the weak. His father was the most vicious predator in the Jackals. He expected his sons to follow in his footsteps. Rye walked away from the club and his family after a bloody night Vegas when he was 19. Nothing he did on the battlefield or off ever washed the taint of his old sins from his soul. No, Cat's goodness and grace was not for a guy like him, no matter how tempting she might be. He told himself to walk away and never look back but she literally stopped him in his tracks. He should have walked away for sake her sake but she made him want to smile and almost made him laugh. He should not have asked her out. He should have kissed her. He should not have made a second date. He explained to her in graphic detail why she did not belong with him. She thankfully disagreed. Well he was grateful, her sister the cop and her father the former judge, not so much. After discovering there is more to than an infectious laugh and ass meant to model jeans, he realizes he might not be the right man for her but she is probably the perfect woman for him. She must be or he wouldn't be doing things like actually dating, asking for relationship advice and wearing a helmet. Like a love sick sucker, Rye foolishly dared to believe he was man that deserved Cat and happiness that came with her. He was certain they were so solid that the nothing to tear them apart. Fate shook its head and muttered 'Challenge accepted.' Author's note: This novel contains mature themes including sexual content.
