Publisher's Synopsis

This nature journal is dedicated to all of the nature lovers, for we are the bridge, the liaisons of the natural world to humanity. Journaling and nature sketching offers an intimate way to connect with nature no matter where you are. This is a simple nature journal, with some ideas and inspiration from Madison Woods, naturalist and author who lives deep in the wilderness of the Ozarks. The journal entry pages have unlined space at the top of the front page, with light lines on the bottom half and backsides so there is room enough for all of your thoughts. ------------------------------ Inspiration from the author: There is no right or wrong way to create your journal, and it doesn't matter if the nature sketches you draw are good/bad. I encourage people to journal like this even if you don't think you are "good" at drawing. One thing I've noticed is how much more details of a plant I notice while I'm drawing it. It really helps with learning to pay attention to certain things like how the veins in a leaf are arranged, whether the leaves have stems or attach directly to the stem, leaf serrations or lack, etc. Those details help tremendously with identification. And not only that, just being in nature and focusing on one small thing at a time while I'm drawing is an intangible sort of benefit. It's almost like meditation. A relationship with nature develops no matter how recognizable (to others) the sketch is in the end. All that really matters is the relationship forged with the natural world while you're sitting in contemplation of the subject.
