Publisher's Synopsis
A special thanks to Texas Governor, Greg Abbott and President Donald Trump both-for recognizing my efforts at solving the many problems within our current criminal justice system.America has a lot to be proud of and grateful for. Our criminal justice system is not one of them. America houses over 20 percent of the world's prison population making ours the largest by far. That record has held for nearly 40 years. To understand the magnitude of this, China and Russia together have a population of over 1.5 billion, which is 5X greater than our nation, yet we have as many prisoners as those two countries combined. Since 2018, Oklahoma rates #1 in the world for their incarceration rate, which is currently operating above 120 percent capacity. This is no cause for celebration. It would be foolish to assume this status is the common result of law and order. It's the result of being too harsh on punishment and too weak on corrections.'MAXED OUT' is an eye-opening indictment against the current system. It highlights the long-term effects of criminal records for offenders, their families, our communities, public safety and the economy. The truth is revealed behind what's fueling the nation's accelerated recidivism rates and the only solutions that will turn the tides. If you are on a fact-finding mission, 'MAXED OUT' will exceed your expectations. Although the book is not my lament, I add my personal anecdotes. You'll see how my experience within the system as a first-time offender impacted my life, which was my inception into a greater calling. Forget about emotions. I'm no more interested in sharing an offender's "feelings" than you are in reading about them. 'MAXED OUT' was written with the purpose of disseminating facts about our broken system and to offer fresh perspective for how to restore it. Forget about the word "rehabilitate", it's too generic. This book promotes a total cultural transformation that extends far beyond the prison walls and has the potential to outlast our youngest living generations.
