Publisher's Synopsis

Double bill of children's features. In 'Matilda' (1996), based on the novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda (Mara Wilson) is an exceptionally gifted and intelligent child, but is ignored by her stupid parents Harry (Danny DeVito) and Zinnia (Rhea Perlman). A keen reader, her dearest wish is to be sent to school, but the establishment Harry selects is Crunchemhall, run by the brutal Miss Trunchball (Pam Ferris). Her cruelty to her pupils causes Matilda to vow revenge, and her newly discovered telekinetic powers give her the chance to do so. John Huston directs 'Annie' (1981), the screen version of the Broadway musical based on the long-running comic strip 'Little Orphan Annie'. Annie (Aileen Quinn) lives a miserable life in an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan (Carol Burnett). A chance of escape and happiness comes Annie's way when she meets billionaire 'Daddy' Warbucks (Albert Finney), but Hannigan and her colleagues soon conspire to get Annie back.
