Publisher's Synopsis
Manchester, like many other cities, has seen major changs take place in the post-war period. This work aims to establish and maintain a planning archive in Manchester to ensure that the history of planning can be better told in the future. The story of planning is one that is still shaping tomorrow's city, and the need for effective city planning is now established - the question, however, is how well we are doing it and how it can be improved. The work is illustrated with photographs and illustrations from the past 50 years, and should enable the reader to be better informed about Manchester's planning history and understand the historic forces that are helping to shape the city in modern times.
