Der Versuch einer neuen Ausgabe des Lohengrin bedarf einiger ein leitender Worte der Verstandigung und Erklarung. Lohmgrin steht nach dem jetzt allgemein gultigen literarhistorzachen Urtheil sehr tief. Die Ueb erschatzung die ihm wie dem so vielt nahe verwandten j. Titurel zn 17zeil wurde hat einer grossen Ungnnsb Platz gemacht Es kommt hier nicht darauf an eine K ritik dieses gegenwartigen Ur theils zu geben: einzelne Hauptgesiehtspunkte unter denen sich das Verwerfungwrlheil hie und da beschranken durfle, sind in dem literar historischen Theile der Anmerkungen ausge/uhrt. Jedenfalls enthalt das Gedicht sprachlich und culturgeschichtlich und von dem Stand punkt der Geschichte der poetischen Formen angesehen namentlich als Probe des Fortwirlwns einer fruheren Kunstpefiode belehrendes und interessantes in grosser Fulle, die von den innerlich ga nz verschieden artigen Einflussen einer entschieden unkunstlerischen Zeit und Um gebung gekreuzt wird. Die Ausgabe von Gorres in der es bisher allein allgemein zuganglich war erweist sich in jeder Hinsicht als unbrauchbar. Sie ist nach einer hochst mangelhaften Abschrift einer Handschrifl gemacht. Ausser den Lucken, welche der Abschreiber ver schuldet hat, wimmelt diese Ausgabe von Lese Schreib und Druck fehlern aller Art und entbehrt jeder Art von kritischem nnd erkla rendem A pparat, dessen das Werk doch nach allen Seiten hin so sehr bedarf.
