Publisher's Synopsis

The illustration on this tea towel is based on William Morris’s design for the membership card of the Democratic Federation. Morris (1834-1896) was not only a seminal textile designer but also a poet, novelist and ardent socialist. In 1881, Morris helped establish the Radical Union which aimed to provide a working-class equivalent to the Liberals, but disillusioned with Liberalism he declared himself a socialist and in 1883 joined the Democratic Federation, which was Britain’s first socialist party. It was not long before Morris was a member of the executive council of that organisation and was employing his artistic endeavours to further its objectives. This is your opportunity to become a card-carrying socialist in your own kitchen!

SPECIFICATIONS: Half Panama unbleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 48cm x 70cm. Machine wash at 40 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.
