The Civil War has come to an end, yet things are still not easy for Kyzer. It is now 1870, and the son of Delilah continues his life in the small town of Hastings, Virginia. Kyzer's beautiful wife, Dellanna, has been dead for six months. Soon, an old friend from Kyzer's Civil War days arrives in Hastings and changes the direction of the entire family's life.
