Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from How to Read and Declaim
A course of instruction in reading and declamation should have as its prime object the cultivation of taste and refinement in the student. The mechanical aspects will serve to develop a graceful carriage, correct standing and sitting positions, proper management of the breath, accurate enunciation and pronunciation, and the essential qualities of a good speaking voice. The mental aspects will give the student ample practise in intelligent and sympathetic read ing and recitation, both of prose and poetry.
