We are wired for fear. We are wired for survival. Your mind has no interest in your happiness, which is unimportant for your survival. You will fight or flee if there is a real threat to you, so you can fight or flee another day. Your mind is constantly looking for areas of threat or lack so it can bring it to your attention, so you can do something about it and survive. In any situation you'll notice that your mind has this tendency; to spot what's wrong and what can represent a threat. No wonder we get stressed. Today the threat no longer comes from marauding tribes or wild animals or starvation, but from the media, (especially the news), money issues, health issues, relationship issues and such like.
