Publisher's Synopsis
This book, the first in a series covering the whole of prehistory, concentrates on the whole range of universal history from the origins of the universe down to the dawn of the dinosaur era. The author looks at the birth of the Earth and the nature of life and the first living organisms. It starts with an explanation of the "Big Bang" theory now favoured by most scientists. The author continues with a section about the birth of the Earth and the formation of the sun and other planets. The story of the Earth is then followed through to the time when the atmosphere, oceans and continents had formed. The book ends about 200 million years ago and leads on to the next title "The Dinosaur Age".
