Generic Risk Assessment 2.4 - Flooding and water safety is part of a new series of Generic Risk Assessments (GRAs) that is the product of a ten year consultation period. The GRAs have been designed to safeguard Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) personnel and members of the public. This assessment examines the hazards, risks and control measures relating to Fire and Rescue Service personnel, the personnel of other agencies and members of the public at incidents near or in water. Incidents range from rescues from open water, from vehicles in water, from mud, ice and unstable ground, animal rescues, floodwater incidents and body recovery (in certain circumstances). This publication does not cover the risks associated with fire fighting from boats. Activities involving other specific significant hazards are covered in other generic risk assessments and should be. considered in conjunction with this one.
