Publisher's Synopsis
Crypto is here to stay! Not a single day now passes by with one not hearing something good or bad about crypto. Millions or even billions of dollars change hands every day.
The social media is aghast with stories of people losing their hard-earned dollars in bogus crypto investments. People need protection. Crypto needs to be regulated - that's what many people are now clamoring for. Strengthened by the desire to tax the billions of dollars in circulation and the crimes coming along with cryptocurrencies, governments have now the reason to regulate the crypto industry. Lobbyists from well-heeled institutions are now positioning their principals for an eventual regulation of the industry. With regulation comes the standardization in the reporting system. Excel, being already a well-known software from whence other applications emanate, will surely play a major role in the eventual arrival of regulation. Hence, the creation of FIFO - Aggregator of Capital Gains and Losses. FIFO - Aggregator of Capital Gains and Losses is basically a macro-driven system for preparing the report of capital gains and losses resulting from the acquisition and disposition of capital assets, particularly cryptocurrencies. Only a slightly higher than a beginner's knowledge of Excel is required to implement the features described in the book. As in a majority of cases, not all users have the same approach to solving problems using Excel. In this respect, the implementation of the Excel features and functions is left to each user. Users can utilize the advance Excel features to their heart's content should they choose to do so. The guidelines in the book are not absolute, they can be changed in various ways. The most difficult part in aggregating capital gains and losses particularly with respect to cryptocurrencies, is extracting data from the reports provided by crypto exchanges. Comma-separated values (CSV) files are daunting to deal with so much so that the author himself, at first, has tried to ignore them and use alternative methods to solve problems with Excel. The difficulty of data extraction from exchange-generated sources has led to this book's development of macro templates that aid in problem solving. The templates are planned for shipping to users in the future, upon request. Currently, there are no more than ten short macros that comprise the templates. Although these macros are more than adequate to convert CSV files to FIFO format, more can improve the application in terms of speed and simplicity of implementation. As the crypto industry evolves, so does FIFO - Aggregator of Capital Gains and Losses.
