In a half-built mansion in one of LA's glamorous neighbourhoods, the bodies of a young couple are found, murdered in flagrante and left in a gruesome post-mortem embrace. A grisly crime for veteran homicide cop Milo Sturgis and psychologist Alex Delaware to solve. The male victim was eco-friendly architect Desmond Backer, who disdained the sort of grandiose superstructure he's found dead in. Mr Backer was notorious for his seductive powers - the exception being his ex-boss, Helga Gemein. Milo and Alex's list of suspects grows ever longer, as the homicidal mix includes conspiracy, and a vendetta that runs deep. But the investigation veers in a startling direction - Alex and Milo end up on the wrong end of a cornered predator's final fury.
