Publisher's Synopsis

This novel's theme is based on facts, events and historical locations in Tennessee, Mississippi, Illinois, Missouri and Louisiana that occurred between 1830 and 1923. The story focuses on the lives of Mary Jane Hubbard (b. in GA, ca.1835), her husband, Moses Pierce Harrison (b. in AR, ca. 1833) and their family members. Civil War battles in Shiloh, Tennessee, and Corinth and Iuka, Mississippi influenced the family's movements and well being during this time period. Moses Harrison was wounded during the battle of Iuka, captured, and shipped by rail to the federal prison in Joliet, Illinois, until the war's end in 1865. From 1866 to 1884, the family lived in marble Hill, Missouri. Then they returned to Iuka, Mississippi, where they remained until Moses' death in 1894. The book's title, Don't Sell My Buggy!, is based on Mary Jane Harrison's constant instructions to her son not to sell her buggy.
