Publisher's Synopsis
BHAGWAD GITA is the Divine song of Sri Krishna. It was told to the confused and depressed warrior Arjuna at the epicenter of the battlefield. But even after thousands of years, it is a timeless knowledge and an ideal code of conduct. This book is a devotional attempt to bring holy Gita in the faster read version so that the new reader can get attracted to it. After reading Bhagwad Gita, different people have come out with different interpretations as per their understanding. Ultimately the philosophy of Lord Krishna helps us to build self-confidence and to face critical situations with courage. Krishna had tried all options to avoid the great war of Mahabharata. But there was no breakthrough. Duryodhana had rejected every solution offered by Krishna. There was only one way forward to settle the dispute between Dharma (Righteousness) and Adharma and that was to fight a war. Kings and their armies from all over India participated in this destructive war and fought for either Pandavas or Kauravas. On the very first day on the battlefield, when Arjuna asked Krishna to show him who all are fighting against Pandavas on Kurukshetra, Krishna took the chariot in front of Bhishma and Drona. Krishna could have easily taken the Arjuna in front of Duryodhana or Karna, so that Arjun would have started the war as in the fury of revenge. But probably Krishna wanted to confuse Arjuna and same thing happened. When Arjuna saw his near and dear ones he got depressed, lost his energy, and sat helplessly on the ground. He threw away his favorite bow Gandiva and told Sri Krishna...... "I am not going to fight !" Lakhs of soldiers on both sides were waiting for the sound of the conch (Shankh), marking start of the war, but one of the greatest warriors on the earth was unwilling to lift his bow. Arjuna lost his interest to win any kingdom, power, or wealth at the cost of his brothers, relatives, teachers, and friends. On this extraordinary backdrop at the epicenter of the battlefield, the great philosophy of Bhagwad Gita emerged from the mouth of Shri Krishna. Gita, the Divine song of God is told not just to motivate Arjuna to fight the war, but it is the supreme knowledge that Krishna passed on to his friend and devotee. This timeless philosophy unfolds the meaning of life and teaches us how to attain liberation. By the grace of Lord Krishna, I am happy to present this simple, fast read format of His holy preaching.
