Publisher's Synopsis
Elizabeth Baker is a Jane Austen fangirl on a quest for her very own Mr. Darcy. She finally finds him in her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Bryan. When he takes her to an exclusive restaurant on their anniversary she is confident he will ask her to marry him, and that they will live happily ever after. Her fairy tale bubble bursts when he confesses he is in love with someone else. In need of a fresh start, Elizabeth moves across the pond to live with her sister in London. She agrees to go on a blind date (a complete disaster), and on her way home a mysterious black horse runs in front of her car, causing her to crash into a ditch and lose consciousness. When she opens her eyes, Elizabeth is in an 1800's themed room with a fire burning in the fireplace and muslin curtains hanging from the four poster bed. She assumes she must be dreaming of Pride and Prejudice. As the dream progresses, however, she begins to question whether it is merely a dream or something far more serious. When she suddenly remembers everything, her suspicions are confirmed-but how bad was the accident? Could she be in a coma? Or worse, could she be dead? She climbs a tree, thinking if she jumps she might jolt herself back into consciousness. Just as she decides it might not be the best plan, the branch she balances on breaks. Luckily, a devastatingly handsome stranger shows up just in time to catch her when she falls. Believing it to be Mr. Darcy in the flesh, she begins to think her current situation might not be so bad after all. She becomes preoccupied with the well-loved story she knows so well, she can predict what will happen next with complete certainty. Or so she thinks. Surprising plot twists, shockingly familiar faces, and unexpected emotions lead Elizabeth down a path of self-discovery in her own subconscious. She learns that the character flaws she thought had to be eradicated in order to be loved by the perfect man are nothing short of lovely to the man who is perfect for her. She no longer cares whether she regains consciousness or not; she has found her happily ever after in her dreams. Unfortunately, all dreams come to an end. Or do they?
