Excerpt from Die Spitz-und Spitzmundkrabben (Oxyrhyncha und Oxystomata) Des Roten Meeres
Ich habe meinem Werk ein eingehendes Verzeichnis d er Literatur, zunachst der Kurzschwnzer der indischen Meere vorangestellt, und zwar in 3 Abteilungen: ltere, neuere und neueste. Die Literaturangaben der einzelnen Arten im d104 konnten so wesentlich abgekrzt werden, hauptschlich durch einfache Beigabe der Jahreszahl der betreffenden Schrift zu dem Namen des Autors; nur in zweifelhaften Fllen ist noch ein kurzer nherer Hinweis gegeben. Bei der oft geradezu lstigen Syn onymik ist vielfach auf die Werke verwiesen, wo eine solche ausfhrlich gegeben ist (z.b. Alcock, s. Synonyma), soweit nicht eine Anfechtung derselben notig war. Auch die von mir gegebene Zusammen stellung der Terminologie der einzelnen Skelettteile, wie sie von den verschiedenen Autoren angewendet werden, wird nicht unwillkommen sein; ich selbst wende womglich deutsch e Ausdrcke an, z. B. ussere Kieferfsse; nur in zweifelhaften Fllen, namentlich wo ber die Anordnung Uneinigkeit und Unklarheit herrscht, z. B. ber das sogen. 3. Glied der Kieferfsse, das eigentlich das 4. Ist, gebrauche ich ein griechisches Wort wie Merus.
