This book presents the results of original research on Indigenous visual cultures of the American continent, covering a considerably long timeframe, from antiquity to the present. Through analyses of specific cases, different theoretical and methodological approaches are promoted with regards to the study of different productions and practices in the field of visuality. The intention of this collection of essays is to advance the disciplinary intersection of knowledge and questions about the specificities of Indigenous visuality in the Americas in its historical dimension, and its effects on the generation of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences beyond this area.
