Publisher's Synopsis
In 1706 the young Johann Sebastian Bach traveled to Lübeck to study at the St. Marien Church there with one of the giants of his time: Dieterich Buxtehude. Bach was fascinated by this extraordinary musician and overstayed his vacation by three months. It would be difficult to find another composer from the time before Bach who left such a large, important and variegated organ oeuvre. Klaus Beckmann has brought together the results of decades of research in this profusely elucidated, four-volume Complete Edition of Buxtehude's organ works.
