Introduction

God has ever jealously guarded His own honor, and while He does not pass by the wise of earth He does glory in selecting instruments that would never be chosen by men. This He does "that no flesh should glory in His presence." We are living in the "last days" and in "perilous times;" "heady," "high-minded," "having a form of Godliness," and like words and expressions locate us. In the rush after knowledge, and the tendency to bow down to intellectuality, we forget that "the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God." The learned Paul was careful to so preach that the faith of his hearers "should not stand in the wisdom of men." Years ago God laid His hand upon a poor, ignorant, sinful fisherman; and a few years afterwards sanctified him wholly. Feeling the call of God to work for the salvation of the lost, he set about the study of the Bible, especially the Old Testament. For years, as he followed his occupation, he pored over the Word, searching as for hid treasures. Years have been spent in careful research. Old libraries and second-hand bookstores have been ransacked for information. The rarest specimens and material pertaining to the Tabernacle and its furniture have been collected from this and foreign lands, until a fund of information has been obtained that makes the writer an authority on this branch of sacred study...
