Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Chemistry of Dye-Stuffs

Originally designed to form a section of a text book ou the Technology of the d104ile Fibres, the present work was afterwards modified into a separate volume, chie?y in order to render it more accessible to chemists interested in the chemistry of dye-stuffs rather than in the dyeing and cloth printing industries. This change led to a more exhaustive treatment of the dye-stuffs and the omission of all particulars relating to them practical application, the latter being' relegated to the companion volume dealing also with the improvement of the fibres by bleaching, etc. Only in the sections treating of natural dye-stuffs and mineral colours has more attention been paid to the technical side, because the pre sent volume is primarily designed for the dyer's chemist.

The aim in view was to provide a textbook presenting to the student in as lucid and condensed a form as possible the extremely wide domain of the modern chemistry of dye-stuffs.
