Barbour (1870-1944) was an American novelist who primarily wrote popular works of sports fiction for boys. In collaboration with L H Bickford he also wrote as Richard Stillman Powell, their most notable work being Phyllis in Bohemia (1897). His other works included light romances and adventure stories. Over the course of his career Barbour produced more than 100 novels amd numerous short stories. First published in 1912, this football story forms part of the Yardley Hall School Stories series.
