Publisher's Synopsis
This work attempts to give a picture of the compositional work of Bruno Maderna, an attempt which has not so far been made in English. Maderna's activities as a conductor were pursued with intensity, particularly during the last decade of his life, and his championing of the work of countless contemporary composers tended to overshadow his own composition, to which he was already rarely able to devote as much time and energy as he would have wished.;With his activities as a teacher, editor and transcriber, it becomes clear that he was no ordinary musician, but one of a remarkable creativity.
