Publisher's Synopsis
In this seventh volume in the "Adventures in Canadian History" series, Pierre Burton examines the attack on Montreal in October 1813 by an American general. The attack was unsuccessful, but a victory might have derailed the creation of Canada, and would have altered the course of history.;The Americans vastly outnumbered the British and Canadian forces, and the conquest of Montreal should have been easy, but the American general was a sick man and a poor leader. Hundreds of his men were ill, and many of them refused to cross the border into the British colony. With vigorous leadership, the British forces, many of whom were ill-trained militia, managed to fight off the Americans and forestall the threat to Montreal.
