Publisher's Synopsis

ADVENTURES of MOONSTAR, THE ALASKAN VEGETARIAN CAT - CAMPING (c)

Moonstar, the cat, and his best human friend, Samantha Sebree, are two eight-year-olds. School is out for the short, Alaskan summer. Moonstar dreams of valiant deeds, like rescuing kittens, as they stretch out in their hammocks. He never dreamed of going "camping", let alone, being abandoned by his family.

The six-hour drive from Anchorage, Alaska takes them to Lake Dena, near Mount Denali. Star is given his first, outside bath, after getting car sick. He is put in a wiggling, noisy, green enclosure with Samantha for the most sleepless night of his life.

When Moonstar goes to forage for food several days later, on his own. While attempting to take down a moose calf, he gets thrown off, gets lost in the woods, and left behind by his best friend. Star is knocked out by, Lord of the Lake Barthomew, a beaver, who drags him under the lake into his lodge. He is threatened to become eagle food if he harms any, non-carnivorous critter that flies, scampers, or walks on two, or four legs. He is offered a chance to become a friend to those he only thought to harm before.

Learning the beauty, the challenges, and the dangers of the woods will either lead him to be rescued, be starved, be eaten by carnivores, or be a "Moon-Pie" for eagles.

There are moral lessons to be learned, or remembered, for kids of all ages.
